Visiting Us

Exbury's beautiful woodland garden covers 200 acres and is a jewel in the heart of the New Forest National Park. Created by Lionel de Rothschild in 1919, Exbury is a spectacular gardens offering natural beauty and horticultural variety on the edge of the Beaulieu River. This earthly paradise offers a riot of colour in spring, an oasis of tranquility in summer followed by a spectacular show as the leaves changes in autumn.

We recommend you allow a minimum 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 hours to explore the Gardens (but up to 5-6 hours in the spring), plus time to spend in the Tea Rooms and on the Steam Railway.

Your group organiser can receive free entry into the Gardens and a free ride on the Exbury Steam Railway.

Your coach driver is entitled to free entry into the Gardens, a train ride and a discount in Mr Eddy's Tea Rooms.

 

Garden Tours

Coach Meet and Greet

A great option exclusively for our group visitors, this is a 30 minute introduction to the Gardens and their history, with a summary of current flowering conditions. Usually taken with a gentle stroll towards Home Wood but can also take place on a coach or –if previously arranged with the Exbury caterers –in Mr. Eddy’s Tea Rooms.

Cost: £50.00, for a maximum group size of 50 people.

Senior Guide Tour

A 1½ - 2 hour historical tour of the Gardens, recounting stories and anecdotes of the de Rothschild family and visiting the best of the colour. Tours start at the Visitor Entrance and can finish within the Gardens, at the Steam Railway, Five Arrows Gallery, or the Visitor Entrance. 

Guided tours are a maximum of 25 people per guide. To book a tour please contact us on 02380 891203. Dates are subject to the availability of staff so please try to arrange your tour with us in advance.

Cost: £80.00

Head Gardener Tour

For groups or to mark a special occasion, focus by request on any aspect of the horticultural collection according to the season –camellias, magnolias, rhododendrons, azaleas, summer exotics or autumn colour. Sensory tours are also available

Lots of advice and tips will be passed on, and a typical tour will last approximately 2 hours.

‘We recently had some friends from London to visit and were looking for something to entertain our young children for the day. We decided to give Exbury Gardens a try and I thought it was wonderful. We had Sunday lunch in the restaurant and the food was far superior to other local attractions so compliments to the chef. Walking through the gardens was beautiful with lots of little pathways to explore. I have lived in the Romsey area for many years and always thought Exbury was a little out of the way but it only took me 20 minutes from the motorway. We will definitely be a regular visitor from now on.’
