Animal brass rubbings trail

Grab your crayons and trail pack and set off on your Exbury adventure. Throughout the woodland gardens you can find 8 rubbings that will introduce you to some of the wildlife who live in the New Forest.

How to find them

Pick up your trail pack from the Visitor Entrance and follow the map to find the 8 brass rubbing posts... X marks the spot!

How to do a brass rubbing

Once you have found a post, hold the paper up against the image. Then while it is held in place, rub on the paper with your crayon (keeping the paper as still as possible). The image will be revealed as you rub.

We will be there, first through the door on some of our visits and sometimes we come and walk the routes provided down by the river or sometimes sit and read our books on one of those seats provided in a particularly leafy, tranquil spot.

We became members of Exbury for the first time last year and loved seeing the change of seasons. What a joy to find Davdii in bloom and discover the huge waxy cups of Liriodendron. To see the development of the whole around the sundial garden was magical and we found we could identify all we wanted to from the clear, informative board.
