Open air theatre: The Adventures of Dr Dolittle

When Dr John Dolittle of Puddleby-on-the-Marsh is taught by his wise old parrot Polynesia how to talk to animals, news of his skills spreads far and wide.Soon animals across the world send messages asking for his help. So he buys a leaky old ship and, together with his trusty pet-crew of Jip the dog, Chee-Chee the monkey, Dab-Dab the Duck and permanently hungry Gub-Gub the pig, sets forth on a mission to heal illness, spread compassion and gain a greater understanding of the animal kingdom.

Running time (approx): 1hr 50mins (inc 20 minute interval). Gates open at 6pm, performance starts at 7pm.

Suitable for ages 5+ (younger children also welcome!).

Please bring your own picnic blankets or chairs as seating is not provided.

Tickets are: Adults £20, Children (3-15) £12, Carers and children under 3 are free. Early bird prices apply until 31st May.

What a lovely few months we had regularly visiting, occasionally with our two young grandsons who enjoy the sheer expanse and the flexibility of paths to explore, and for us, to sit on the plethora of seating areas sensitively positioned, to just soak up the glorious surroundings.

We will be there, first through the door on some of our visits and sometimes we come and walk the routes provided down by the river or sometimes sit and read our books on one of those seats provided in a particularly leafy, tranquil spot.

We became members of Exbury for the first time last year and loved seeing the change of seasons. What a joy to find Davdii in bloom and discover the huge waxy cups of Liriodendron. To see the development of the whole around the sundial garden was magical and we found we could identify all we wanted to from the clear, informative board.
