In mid-summer the Herbaceous and Grasses and Sundial Gardens come into their own, with vibrant colour from the many varieties of perennials.

The Hydrangea Walk is a focus for cooler blues and mauves from the Teller hybrid hydrangeas.

Throughout the garden the tree canopy creates shady walks and late flowering rhododendrons form islands of colour and scent.

The ponds and trickling cascades provide a cool backdrop as the whole garden assumes the tranquil qualities of a summer retreat – a picnickers paradise where one can relax and listen to birdsong.
