RHS New Forest Breakfast Walk Sat 4th May
'A riot of colour' is perhaps an over-used phase, but it is an apt way to describe Exbury in the spring. The garden is renowned for its superb Rothschild Collection of rhododendrons and azaleas, and this walk with Head Gardener John Anderson is timed to coincide with the peak flowering period.
One outstanding area is Lovers Lane, where tightly trussed, faintly fragrant deciduous azaleas flank both sides of the walk. Among the cultivars here are the brilliant yellow R. 'Princess Margaret of Windsor' and reddish-orange R. 'Beaulieu Manor.' Another highlight is the American Garden, where rhododendrons and azaleas such as 'Pink Walloper' flower against a background of laburnum and wisteria.

Throughout the walk John will provide tips on planting, propagating and layering and will be happy to answer questions. The 1 ½ hour walk is guaranteed to work up an appetite for a delicious New Forest breakfast in Mr Eddy’s Tea Rooms, with all food sourced from local producers.
After breakfast, guests are welcome to continue exploring the Gardens at their leisure.
