Summer Steam Soiree

15th July 2016

Exbury on a summer evening is a pure delight, especially when you are offered a glass of Pimms or a fruit cocktail and have the opportunity to ride the steam railway!

On Friday 15th July, visitors will be able to enjoy an evening tour of the gardens in the company of a knowledgeable guide.

Your evening will begin at 7pm with a welcome summer drink on the terrace at Mr Eddy’s Tea Rooms, before boarding carriages for a two-circuit run of Exbury’s ‘Rhododendron Line’. The train passes through the Summer Lane Garden, at its best with herbaceous and perennial plantings. Look out for wildlife on your journey! On the second circuit, the train will ease to a stop at the American Garden, where our guide will lead you on a short 20 min walk back to Mr Eddy’s, taking in the tranquil Jubilee Pond, mysterious Jurassic Boardwalk and the colourful Hydrangea Walk.

A delicious 2-course buffet dinner will be served on the terrace of Mr Eddy’s Tea Rooms (weather permitting!), with food sourced from Hampshire suppliers.

The evening will conclude at approximately 10pm.

Tickets are £30 per person and £27 for Friends of Exbury. Booking essential

‘We recently had some friends from London to visit and were looking for something to entertain our young children for the day. We decided to give Exbury Gardens a try and I thought it was wonderful. We had Sunday lunch in the restaurant and the food was far superior to other local attractions so compliments to the chef. Walking through the gardens was beautiful with lots of little pathways to explore. I have lived in the Romsey area for many years and always thought Exbury was a little out of the way but it only took me 20 minutes from the motorway. We will definitely be a regular visitor from now on.’
